Lost,
forgotten.
pushed to the back
dust gathering.
waiting.
Opportunity
a hand.
freed from the back.
out from the deep pages,
a note falls out.
A hand reaches.
the book slumps.
It’s heart broken.
The book glances at the note.
trying not to be seen
Dear Faith,
Hope you like this book
as much as I did.
-your cousin.
A hand reaches for the book,
and pulles it up
To their face.
The Book Thief’s heart leaps.
It is not lost.
Pages turn
as the story is read.
Cover to cover
twice.
No more dust.
Now on the front of the shelf
The Book Thief rests.
